YIL Alumni Meet
The Young Instructor Leader(YIL) program began back in 2007, with three children. Today, it has reached out to over 6000 children across the country.
This year, the Young Instructor Leader meet took place on April 28th, 29th at Agastya’s sprawling Kuppam campus. The event provided the budding leaders with an opportunity to interact not just with fellow Alumni but to also motivate and inspire existing YILs. Ramji Raghavan, the Chairman and Founder of Agastya presided over the function, which had the alumni showcasing their oratory, dance and music skills. He had this to say about the importance of the Alumni meet, “The Alumni meet has given us a platform to bring them all together in one place. It is also enriching for us, to see the end result of the YIL program and to understand its effectiveness. It allows them to exchange their ideas, insights and knowledge that they have acquired over the years.”
The meet had alumnus from various walks of life coming together-ranging from Engineers to Radio Jockeys. But what is common to all of them is that the program has empowered them to be change agents in their schools, communities and society at large. As one YIL tells us, “Earlier others were role-models. But, today I am one”. So what motivates Agastya to do better? Ramji Raghavan says,”When we look at young motivated minds from programs like the Young Instructor Leader, it recharges us and inspires us to do better”.
