Lab on a Tab!
The month of March was eventful in Agastya’s calendar, with the launch of a new unique program, “Lab on a Tab” (LoT). The pilot program was carried out in partnership with Lenovo India, with students and teachers of nine government schools across Bangalore and Kuppam, being provided with Lenovo A-1000 tablets.
These tablets are pre-loaded with modules designed by Agastya Foundation and C-DAC, to engage the students through interactive learning. The modules covered through the tablets are in synchrony with the curriculum followed by the schools. Along with the tab, the program provides a suite of low cost models to compliment the science modules on the tab, so that children are given a holistic learning experience.
The program provides a “Self Learning” platform for children to explore science education. By providing children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with access to Science and Technology through this program, Agastya seeks to supplement the existing methods of teaching in government schools. The content was made in Kannada to make learning easier for children who are comfortable in the local language. By combining Hands-On education with technology, the Lab on a Tab is yet another unique program that furthers Agastya’s mission to spark creativity and curiosity among school going children in India.
