Job Title / Designation:  Project Officer, MediaArts Lab

Location: Bangalore 

The goals of the MediaArts Lab & Program are:

• To INSTRUCT children, teachers, and others in the use of digital photography, video, new media, and the arts 

 • To INTEGRATE media literacy into the organization and the communities Agastya serves, thus enabling individuals and communities to accelerate goal achievement. 

 • To INNOVATE and adapt uses of media that complements the low-cost model embodied by Agastya. 

Role Objective:

To design and implement activities of the ongoing MediaArts program at Agastya’s Creativity Lab (Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh) and in Bangalore. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

For Children & Community

  • Execute activities at MediaArts Lab (mainly at Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh) 
  • Assist in program expansion (in terms of content and location) 
  • Document outcomes of activities for record and future use and prepare  reports of activities to be submitted to the Donors.  

 For Agastya Staff

  • Build capacity in Agastya Staff about usage and applications of various forms of media ·
  • Assist Agastya Staff in using media tools to develop teaching aids/ posters/ banners and other  material for educational purposes 
  • Enable Agastya staff to use photographs/ video clips etc. for organizational reporting and documentation 

 For Agastya Organization 

  • Document programs (photos and videos) and ongoing events for Agastya 
  • Assist in editing footage commensurate with organization needs 
  • Work with communication team in development of all communication collateral (website, social media, brochures, posters etc.) 
  • Create Short film/ documentaries on key Agastya programs, Impact Stories, Special interviews  with Key Agastya Members(founders, trustees, advisors, key donors etc ) 

 Requirements:

  • Diploma/ Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in a Media related discipline 
  • Background experience in Media  
  • Past experience in photography/ videography 
  • Proficient with use of Adobe creative suite, Photoshop, video editing (FinalCutPro/ Adobe Premier Pro) etc. 
  • Ability to work independently and in teams 
  • Ability to speak fluently in Kannada & Telugu is preferable. But other language speakers could apply.

 Preferred:  

  • Past experience working with children/ education sector 
  • Comfortable working with Macintosh systems 
  • Willingness to stay in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh 
  • Willingness to travel frequently 

 Experience:  1 – 3 years preferred but fresher are welcome to apply   

 

Job Title: Academic Project Officer

Location: Bangalore

The Academic Project Officer will work under the supervision of the Manager, Internal Training. S/he is

expected to contribute substantially to quality classroom interactions and  will have the following

responsibilities

Providing academic, training, skill building and documentation support to the Manager, Internal

Training, IMT team and Instructor team across Agastya field areas.

Preparation and upgrade of reference material to be used by Instructors – activity based

learning handbooks, reference material on models, compiling of questions that come up during

student interactions

Training of Instructors across Agastya field areas  - induction training for new Instructors and

refresher trainings for other instructors

 Identifying and providing continuous linkages between subject experts and Instructors in the

field

 Skill development of Instructors in critical areas of professional development like language,

computer and communication skills.

 Provide academic support for the design and running of external courses (like Bandhu) that may

come up from time to time

 Provide academic input to the maintenance and upgrade of teaching learning material in Mobile

Vans, Science Centres and Science Fairs

 Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Science or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent with 1-2  years of research

or work experience. Teaching experience desirable

Other requirements

 Ability to work in teams with varying degrees of skills, provide proactive support to Instructor

team

 Ability to travel as and when required

 

Job Title: Mentor, Innovation Hub

As part of a new initiative, Agastya is in the process of setting up an Innovation Hub at its main campus near Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, around 100 km east of Bangalore. This Innovation Hub is intended to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship among school children and is unique in its focus on rural India. The innovation projects are expected to have a high socio-economic impact in the local region in an environmentally sustainable manner. 

Location: Agastya’s Creativity Campus, Kuppam, AP.

Requirement: 4 positions open

 Role: The Mentor of the Innovation Hub will act as a catalyst to stimulate innovative and entrepreneurial thinking among our Agastya student leaders (7th to 9th stds) who have already had 2 years of exposure to Agastya’s hands-on learning in Science, Math and Arts. Unlike a traditional school teacher, the Mentor will be a “co-learner”, participating in the creation of new ideas along with the children, using an active, hands-on approach. The Mentor will play a crucial role during the entire innovation process, including selection and framing of the innovation topic, researching new ideas, and shortlisting, prototyping and testing them in the field.

Agastya will provide the Mentor with a one-month long immersive and intensive training on state-of-the-art innovation and design thinking methodologies that are used globally.

Responsibilities will include

Inspiring children to be creative and entrepreneurial

Guiding students through the entire innovation process – starting with project selection all the way to prototyping and testing.

Helping develop the curriculum plan

Helping to scale up the program locally as well as nationally

Digital documentation of all projects

 

Skills and requirements

Strong knowledge of science, technology and engineering.

Engineering degree or graduate degree in science/maths degree desirable.

Hands-on attitude and ability to build prototypes

Holistic, interdisciplinary approach to learning

Entrepreneurial mindset

Willing to work with experts in the field while constantly learning and evolving

 

Job  Title: Facilitator – Prototyping/Model Making

 

Location: Kuppam campus

Requirement: 2 positions open

Role: The Facilitator-Prototyping (Innovation Hub) will be involved in the process of prototyping and model making among students.

Seeking energetic and creative individuals as part of the Agastya Innovation Hub willing to interact with young learners and aiding the process of innovation.

Responsibilities will include

Helping students build physical models/prototypes of their innovation concepts

Build cost estimates of building prototypes

Build new capabilities of the prototype centre

 Skills and requirements

Excellent hands-on ability to build models and prototypes

1-3 years of experience in building parts

Diploma in engineering or ITI preferred

Experience with 3D CAD tools preferred

 

Job Title: Project Officer- Donor Relations Team

Proposal writing for fundraising

Executive assistance to Senior Management

Eligibility:

Post-graduate in Science or Humanities discipline.

Good computer skills, especially the use of MS-Office application software (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)

Excellent communication skills in English (Kannada added advantage): ability to speak, read and write fluently.

Post Graduate in MSW or Development Studies.

Past experience of working in NGO sector.

Job Title: Social Media & Communications

 

Location: Bangalore

Key Roles and responsibilities:

Social Media -

Regularly updating our website and blog with interesting and important information from across the organization.

Social Media Engagement and Management – across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter,  Google+, etc.

Managing our Google Ad-word account and online fund raising gate-way.

Actively update and promote online fundraising through our social media and website.

Occasional travel.

Communications

Writing and managing our external and internal communication like Newsletters, Quarterly and Annual Reports, Press Releases, Collaterals for events etc.

Coordinate visits to the Agastya Kuppam campus by individuals and groups from end – to – end.

Job Title: Project Officer – Impact Assessment

 

Location: Bangalore

Key Roles and responsibilities:

Co-ordinate the entire Impact Assessment process in the organization between the Head Office and the Operations team

Liaising with the External Impact Assessment Agency to ensure the assessment is completed on time and as per organization’s requirements.

Analysis of the qualitative and quantitative data from the project site and writing reports.

Occasional travel to project sites for Impact Assessment.

Post-graduate in Science or Humanities discipline.
