In an endeavour to introduce children to hands-on learning, Agastya and Barclays’s have partnered on a Mobile Lab (ML) program with a focus on Math Enhancement & Financial Literacy. On March 17th, Mr Jaideep Khanna, CEO Barclays Bank inaugurated the program in Chennai and on April 7th, the Mobile Lab was kicked off in Mumbai, with the inaugural event being attended by Ms. Amanda Jenkins. Post the two launches, there were interactive sessions with the children from government schools.
Aimed at increasing access to practical, Hands-On Math & Financial literacy for economically disadvantaged government school children, the program is spread across four locations-Mumbai, Chennai, Noida and Pune. As most children lack creative thinking and problem solving abilities, the Mobile Lab will provide resources to enhance Math and on entrepreneurship development, life skills and financial literacy. Over a period of one year, each Mobile Lab will cover 50 schools, overall the program is expected to deliver 1,28,000 exposures across the four locations. The modules of the Mobile Lab, seek to supplement the existing government school system with experiential science & financial learning. It would also empower the teacher community to handle their teaching sessions better and create a better teaching –learning experience.
