We are thrilled to invite design, art, and media students to participate in an imaginative and creative competition at the Aha! Kollective. Register Now Aha! Kollective is a unique fair that fosters imagination, inspiration and collaboration. The fair is an extension of Agastya International Foundation’s Dhwani Media-on-a-Bike program, empowering government school children in India to express their creativity. Children participating in the fair showcase original films, photographs, and stories, sharing their voices and celebrating their artistic skills. The fair also features creative and immersive installations through which children’s works are reimagined and transformed, showcasing new interpretations. A display of professional artworks and photographs alongside children’s creations act as inspiration and demonstrate the impact of storytelling and artistic expression. Accompanying the gallery spaces are creative workshops and performances, which are aimed at sparking creativity and fostering collaboration. About Aha! Kollective Explore events and workshops Explore Agastya’s vibrant young instructors will lead the fair, guiding you through each experience and inspiring the creativity of all who attend. This two-day event promises to ignite imagination and highlight the endless possibilities of artistic expression. The fair has been curated by Jinal Sangoi, a visual artist and educator who explores creative methodologies through participatory and collaborative practices that integrate art, design, pedagogy, and community. Since 2019, she has designed and led workshops for children and teachers, including those at the Kala Ghoda Festival and Kala Kootami with Agastya International Foundation. A CalArts alumna, she is currently the co-director of the Council for Arts and Social Practice and teaches at IIT Bombay. A recipient of the Arts for Good Fellowship, Gender Bender Grant, and Tim Disney Prize, she has exhibited and taught worldwide, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue through art and education. What is the challenge? Theme: Imagination and Inspiration. Challenge: Remix or recreate children’s works into creative, exhibits or visual media. Resources Provided: Space and a power source. Prototype Requirements: Focus on sustainability, futuristic thinking, and eco-friendly design. One member from each team must register and submit a proposal. Proposals should be based on the children's work. Emails will be sent to all selected individuals/teams, and a one-month time period will be given to create the installation. Installations should be submitted by 25th January 2024. Individuals/teams must set up their installation at the venue on the finale date. At least one member of the team must be present with the installation during the fair. The fair will take place over two days. Food and refreshments will be provided for the team during the fair. Teams must inform the organizers of their availability in advance. How to participate? Jignyasa, our model making competition, cultivates students hunger for knowledge by encouraging them to construct science models. Jignyasa CELEBRATING CURIOSITY, EMBRACING INNOVATION Meaning "the inner urge to know", Jignyasa cultivates students' and teachers' hunger for knowledge by encouraging them to construct models and develop solutions to real-life problems. Jignyasa began in 2011 and now it is held across 24 States across India. Jignyasa reached the International Level in 2020-21 with participation from Bangladesh. The Kala Kootami fair is a celebration of creativity displayed by children in the media program. Children showcase their photographs, films and other projects to their peers, teachers, and community members at the fair. Kala Kootami ART AND CREATIVITY - BY THE CHILDREN, FOR THE CHILDREN At the culmination of the media program, children eagerly anticipate the vibrant Kala Kootami art and creativity fair, a celebration of their boundless creativity. Joined by peers, teachers, and community members, they come together to showcase their remarkable achievements. The fair hums with excitement as attendees explore the gallery space, screening areas and workshops, igniting the curiosity and creativity of visiting children. In Flipbook, there are 24 frames and the pictures are in motion. - Anveshana 2024 | Agastya Foundation
Anveshana is a innovation fair where engineering college studetns work with high school students to innovate Register Now Anveshana is a Science and Engineering competition where undergraduate students mentor underprivileged school students to create models based on engineering concepts through hands-on learning and research. Each team includes 2 engineering students and 2 school students, working together on projects addressing social problems. The school students gain exposure to planning, design, and scientific concepts throughout the process. Since 2011, Agastya International Foundation has successfully organized Anveshana in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Mumbai. We are adding new locations to this program. The competition is well-received in several states across India. About Anveshana Process Initial Screening: Engineering college teams submit concept synopses on social problems and engineering solutions for pre-screening by the jury. First-round Jury Process: The jury evaluates registered projects and selects the top 30-37 teams (depending on location) to implement and demonstrate their ideas. Selection of Teams and Mentees: Selected teams form groups with underprivileged school students and work together to plan, design, and build models. Model Creation and Quality Check: Agastya teams, along with senior educators and engineers, visit colleges to support the teams and ensure model quality and effective mentorship. Technical Advice from Agastya: Agastya assists teams by connecting them with institutions like IISc and IIT for additional technical or conceptual guidance. Anveshana Fair: Teams exhibit their models and present their findings to an expert jury of scientists and educators through oral and written presentations. Delegates at the Fair: Scientists, educators, and students from various institutions and schools will attend the fair. Awards: Prizes are awarded at the fair’s valedictory function.
