India faces a rising challenge with school dropouts, particularly in rural areas. Many children are unable to attend school regularly due to various factors, including the need to help with household chores or supplement family income and the struggle to keep up academically. Over time, these hurdles can lead to disengagement and dropping out of school altogether. How Will This Project Solve the Problem? Since 2009, Agastya's "Night Village School" project has created an engaging and impactful environment to support students and school dropouts. With the help of local college volunteers, Agastya offers evening remedial lessons, allowing children who have missed out on school to catch up and rediscover their excitement for learning. By bringing education closer to home, this initiative helps students build confidence and, in many cases, return to regular classes, staying connected to the joy of discovery. Potential Long-Term Impact The project will lead to trigger positive behavioral shifts that lead to curious, confident, and humane individuals engaging creatively in their communities and eventually mainstreaming school dropouts. It will also elevate the educational status of children in every village and transform the level of empowerment in communities in the future. Children will be able to tackle local societal problems and come up with solutions to these issues.
